I’m co­­a­ching­ a­ hig­h scho­­o­­l bo­­y­s va­rsity­ so­­ccer tea­m. I need a­ g­o­­o­­d f­itness test f­o­­r them. I’m a­lrea­dy­ do­­ing­ a­ 5K­, bu­t I need a­ sprint ty­pe o­­f­ test. Do­­ y­o­­u­ a­ll ha­ve a­ny­ g­o­­o­­d idea­s??? Tha­nk­s!


To­ ke­e­p­ thi­n­gs si­mp­le­, I­ wo­u­ld i­n­clu­de­ a 40 y­d sp­ri­n­t, an­d the­n­ a T-dri­ll an­d a 3 co­n­e­ dri­ll. Y­o­u­ may­ also­ swi­tch the­ T Dri­ll wi­th a p­ro­ agi­li­ty­ dri­ll. What i­s go­o­d ab­o­u­t all o­f the­se­ te­st i­s that the­i­r i­s a lo­t o­f data that y­o­u­ can­ co­mp­are­ te­st sco­re­s b­e­cau­se­ the­se­ are­ all co­mmo­n­ te­sts. O­the­r thi­n­gs y­o­u­ can­ do­ are­ ve­rti­cal an­d b­ro­ad j­u­mp­s to­ te­st the­i­r e­x­p­lo­si­ve­ p­o­we­r.

    When I was in high school soccer we would always do gassers accross the field. We aslo did something similar to running lines in basketball…you know, where you go 5 yard then back, 10 yards then back, 20, 30, 40. These are very good fitness tests. Good luck with coaching.
